I'm having a hard time with this. I know it's pretty stupid, and heck I'm not sure if this is even the right place to ask it, but I've been having trouble choosing in certain situations whether to take photos or videos. I'm not a pro, I just travel a lot so I take pictures and videos wherever I go.
For example I'm at a dance performance, and I want to capture the thing on video, but I also want to take pictures. What do I do?? And especially things like fireworks, water shows, performances, etc. I usually just stand my camera up on my manfrotto monopod and stand and leave it there to capture the video, but meanwhile I'm thinking "man I really want to take pictures of this too". Ideally I would have 2 of the same SLR cameras (oh btw I have the Canon T2i) and be taking videos and pictures at the same time, but that's kind of expensive/inconvenient.

You should be able to take the video and copy a still from a specific frame.

This is something they do a school all the time, sorry I don't so i can't tell you how , but i have seen it done and it was very easy.

Absolutely!

All video is, is a bunch of still images shown at at least 25 frames per second, giving the illusion of motion.

I have my wife use the camcorder while I take pictures, loll, that's just me though.

I would just use the T2i for both. Take a few shots, then some video clips, then some shots. T2i takes great HD video. Also keep in mind that video is much much larger in file size so you'll be able to capture more of the event if you use pictures.
