Video Tutorials or nice dvd's

Anyone now of some nice beginner dvd's or video tutorials to get started of on ?
I got some of Karl Taylors stuff anything similar maybe that can be suggested

^ Lynda.com is good, I think they have a series of Youtube videos too. Also, get some Photography magazines, they sometimes have DVD's attached that contain photography technique and image editing video tutorials.

From my POV as a member of both Lynda and Kelby, Lynda is better for software training, and Kelby is better for photography training.

The "Ben" guy is named Ben Long. He is a great teacher. You should definitely look him up. However, you may want to read some things by him, or watch some videos with him before purchasing a subscription (or even use the 7 day trial). He is very intelligent, and isn't for everyone. But, if you can follow him, he is a great instructor.

My experience with Kelby is only based on his 4 books, I'm not a fan, but others are. I found Kelby more of a how-to, rather than teaching you how to actually operate the camera. In other words, if you want to shoot a particular image, say, a soft lit image with natural light, he will tell you to put your subject about 6 feet from a window, shoot against the window about 10 feet away, at f/11. This may help you get "the shot," but it doesn't really tell you WHY it works. You won't REALLY be learning how to use your camera. I definitely learned from his books, at least the first two, but I wouldn't really recommend them, or him.

That's just me. There's a billion other photographers who will recommend him. And I'm just a noob, so I don't have much room to talk.

Kelby Training is nothing like a Kelby book because it isn't just Kelby. It's a pile of really good photographers ALL sharing their information.

Hmmm... I'll have to look in it. I heard he is really good at photoshop. My experience is just with the books, and I found them severely disappointing. Thanks for the info.
