Messed with some vines in the shade and focus trying to really simplify them.

Very interesting - I can't decide whether this is an interesting piece of abstract photographic art, or not. I must confess that I sat and looked at it for quite a few minutes and my brain is still processing this image. I ask myself the test question (at least for me) - Would I hang this on my wall? - and I don't have an answer - yet. I will say that I think this is very creative, although I am not sure what "messed with some vines..." implies. Would you care to enlarge on exactly what this means - "messed..."?

I like it very much. There are a lot of great photographs I wouldn't hang on my wall, but would go to a gallery to view. This is one of those - and I really do think it's good enough for gallery display. The colors are gorgeous, I love the shapes and the contrast is very pleasing. I'm not a fan of out-of-focus pictures, but this doesn't strike me so much as OOF as it does painterly, reminiscent of expressionism, only softer. For me it's mood altering.

I'm with Jim. I think it's very good. did you just defocus or is the some intentional camera movement as well?

Thanks so much all! I'd say this is just about perfect, we have hit both ends of the spectrum and even the middle, I call that a success!

WG, ah, what "messed with" means, nothing really special or involved, I sprayed the foliage behind the vines with water to get some pleasing round bokeh from the sun shining through it, I used my trusty old Vivitar Series 1 70-210 on the macro setting and was very careful with how much it was out of focus, there is a "sweet spot" where I think it is most pleasing to the eye, just enough to lose the fine details but still maintain the edges if that makes sense.... I suppose that is what I meant my "messed" with it
