Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
about to buy my first dslr. working now.

I was watching Katy Perry's Teenage dream. I like it a lot because of the faded colors and the vintage look.

It is possible to make my photos have this look?

not sure about manual but you can on photoshop, with some curve adjustments, textures and color balances/photo filters.

there'll be a lot of tutorials online for the digital editing side of it! :)
Once youvedone it once you can save it as an action too, which means next time you want to do it (on another photo for example) you just click a button and it automatically does it for you.
I'm bad at explaining ahha ;')

Yes, with photoshop ( or some similar application ) you can. There are a million ways to get a "Vintage" effect, because there are a million different versions of what people deem "vintage". Usually its washed out color and low contrast though which is pretty easy to do in Photoshop. Then you can add colors to the sides of the image as well to look like a film shot with lightleak issues if you want to look even more "Vintage"

thanks for the responses guys, i am looking into vintage and black and white.

thanks for the links from the flickr, but what is the point of the light leaks? Personally i find them unpleasant

This is one I did where I was going for that softer vintage look. Is this what your thinking about?

I am looking for that unique 60s-70s vintage feel. I love the color in the music video, and want to recreate that feel for my photos. I aim to do portraits and pictures of people. May include green landscapes which i feel will go nice with the color contrast

The point of the light leaks is to add a sort of vintage, aged look. Whats the point of taking a high quality picture only to dull the colors for a vintage look? Not much different. You are still screwing the image up, just depends on taste and what you are going for....

Shoot your pictures in raw format. During post editing play with the white balance and saturation. by bumping up the white balance, then desaturizing the photo you may find what your looking for. You can then go in and play with each color as you see fit.

thers a nice one i use, you make a gradient map of Bright red (ff0000) and bright reen (00ff00) and opacity 50% and layer style colour, it gives a nice "80s" feel, i guess you could say, just experiment and google! :)))
