So I was thinking....why should the wifes vintage equipment get all the photography love?
This set is pre 1930's.
almost pristine condition too.
all of the tiny light bulbs work, as well as the battery case. the cable connections to the battery are a little temperamental, but considering even the dimmer switch is still in good working order, im rather pleased with the overall condition. Even the box is in excellent condition with both slide locks working perfectly.

I really love vintage stuff. you can just feel the craftsmanship in every piece. it really brings you back to an era where things were built to last. Not like today, where everything is disposable.

the engraved lines on the medium and large tools are in centimeters, with numbers marked in increments of 5. the center of each one is removable, as seen with the small in picture #3. the piece that replaces it (as also seen in pic#3) houses a small (but surprisingly bright) light bulb. for the medium and large versions, there are extension pieces as seen from the top view pic. the fitting with the light also has a fitting for the air cuff and a glass bottom for viewing. the large cylinder is the battery pack and houses two D cell batteries. there are two connecters that run from the top of the cylinder to the light housing. (also seen in pic #3)

the two eveready batteries in pic #1 dont actually work anymore, but they are still in mint condition and practically antique so i keep them for show. the two small boxes are spare light bulbs built in to connector pieces that attach to the device, and above the boxes are more bulbs in 3 different sizes (depending on which accessory piece you use)

That looks like an old anoscopy kit. Used for looking deep in the human body. The precursor to the colonoscopy.

this is one of a few designs used. the battery case doubles as a handle, but as you can see, the piece where the electrical contacts meet is very narrow and not the strongest physical connection, making the apparatus a bit wobbly. its just a half turn lock. something threaded, and wider, probably would have worked a little better. The switch in the front controls the power going to the light bulb and acts as a dimmer switch. its very basic and simply toggles between 0 and 3. crude, but effective. I also need to clean the glass window...its looking a little dirty.

What's crazy is, we still use something very similar to this. Take the smallest one pictured above and make it white plastic and that is what is sitting in my office right now. Sometimes good designs stand the test of time.
