I was waiting all year for refurbished D800's to get released, and I finally pulled the trigger when they started getting released this holiday season! It came yesterday and I've already burned through two battery charges just messing around and learning the functions of the camera.

What a huge step up this thing is! Right off the bat I can't believe how much better the IQ is, and the AF, wowzah! The AF module and shutter were the biggest reason I held out for the D800 over the D610. Plus I lurve the build quality!

So far all my FX lenses are superb on it, and even my Tokina 11-16 is great. I think I'll even keep it as my UWA and just shoot it in DX crop mode.

I can't wait to get this thing out for a thorough test drive. Biggest hurdle is it's currently below zero outside...

Make sure the tires are properly inflated before driving the D800!!!!

I was also mildly worried my 70-200 vr1 wouldn't due the sensor justice on this monster of resolution, but I'm pleasantly surprised, and I can deal with a little corner softness over spending another grand to upgrade to the vr2.

I'm in Wisconsin to, looks like it's going to be a few days before we get above zero. We'll have to find some creative indoor shooting!! R U in the top, middle, or lower 3rd of this great state? I'm all the way at the top, right on Lake Superior. Congrats on the new camera!

Lower third for me, Madison. I have the pleasure of working on Monday when the high is predicted to be -14° F... Yay me!

Sonofabeehive, that's cold!

That is great. Don't forget your camera strap to prevent your camera from falling on the ground.
