I have an older early serial # Sigma 300 f2.8 for Canon EOS, which needs to be re-chipped to work with digital bodies, but Sigma no longer has chips available.

I am looking for someone who has a damaged or broken same lens that I could salvage the chip from, will need to check with Sigma first to make sure serial # is new enough to work correctly.

Thanks!!

You "probably" do not absolutely need a chip from a 300/2.8, if the chip system is like that used in the Nikkor AF-S lenses...you could "probably" substitute the chip from another f/2.8 lens that uses the same AF protocol....say perhaps the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX HSM lens...just thinking out loud here...

Have you tried asking around the independant repair shops? Some of these will buy up cheap old sigma stock parts and also broken lenses (oft off ebay and the like) to strip down for parts. You might have some luck sourcing the part from them - even if not they might have suggestions for alternative work arounds.
