It's not an HDR - just a single pic taken in JPEG format.

I think the halo you're referring to LaFoto may be the natural cloud that gives the whole thing a halo. It starts to the left side of the peak and is just coming over the edge of the range. I'll have to get in there and grab the original and see what's going on - thank you for pointing that out!!
