Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
So on the advice of Shipman, I'll post the main images I want C&C on, instead of general C&C on my flickr gallery. (if a mod could delete the original thread, I'd appreciate it: http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/general-gallery/358975-war-museum-visit-plus-older-photos.html )

I put the original size- so should get pretty large... (if they don't load- I've put smaller sizes below)

The Unknown Soldier Model by photoshooterOTW, on Flickr

Vimy Widow by photoshooterOTW, on Flickr

Cotta Statues by photoshooterOTW, on Flickr

Reach for the Top by photoshooterOTW, on Flickr

Tanks Still Protect by photoshooterOTW, on Flickr

Peace (Tower) & War (Museum) by photoshooterOTW, on Flickr

Thanks guys!

If someone wants to see the rest- their in my signature below.

oh- Also, most of the shots have some sort of message, or they want you think to think about something. For ex. number 2- the wives of the dead soldiers, even at success such as Vimy Ridge. The tanks in shot 5- war will one day be needed again to protect peace. The last one- again- peace and war... so close yet so far....

They look much better on your Flickr page (they were slow loading on here so I went ahead and looked). Some are really cool, with some I'd think about the background when you're framing shots.

I think the first one's pretty cool, I'd just maybe crop the left side (hard to see what's there and I think it's just not adding anything to the picture). I usually try to think about if something's adding to the composition or if not, why is it in my picture. With the Cotta statues, I think it's an interesting perspective of the statue but a lot of lines on the right side, which seem to overpower the rest of the picture. The Line of cotta is interesting and I like the perspective and balance in that one, except for that dark shape in the lower left, a base I think, but I don't know if there would have been any way to get the photo without it (looks like a tight space). In Reach for the Top I like the combination of cool and warm color in the light on it against the black background.

I like the idea of Tanks protect 2, it's just a little hard to make out the shape to the left - might have liked to see a bit more of what's out the window and not quite as much of the dark shapes of the interior - but still a cool photo.

I really like Parade car and Naval officer salute, those seem to bring the viewer right into seeing what you want them to see (no distractions, a nice clean composition).

Interesting to get to see that museum (and you got me to look at something Canadian that isn't hockey related for a change). You seem to have an eye for this, keep at it.

Are there any example shots where I should have paid attention to the background? I'll keep the useless space in mind next time. I see exactly what you mean with the Cotta Statues- I looked at it again, and the window seems to be catching more attention! Thanks alot :) MONTREAL VS BOSTON! LETS GO CANADIENS! :P

could you please post in normal sizes?

Had to go back and look again to remember what I meant... and will try to do this while watching the game - Habs need to score! Been a fan since first seeing Guy LaFleur and the Flying Frenchmen on TV. We had a local team that was an affiliate of the Habs way before my time (back in the days of chicken wire and no helmets), and a Leafs connection, King Clancy coached here a couple of seasons.

Back to the photos, with me it's the details, I remember years ago teaching myself to make my eye move around the entire viewfinder; now I think it's just second nature and I see the whole scene - most of the time, I hate when I later see some little thing I missed that snuck into my picture!

For example, RIP Lt. Pawley - there's an edge of a base to the left, along the top there's just the edge of the ceiling - might have framed differently or cropped (looks like you had limited space); Nature Heals - does the tree off to the right add to your picture or is it just there? is it a distraction drawing the viewer's eye there when there's not much to see? Turn your Back - tree branches upper right; Peace Tower - left side same thing, and if you'd walked around would that maybe have blocked the traffic lights and shown something more interesting to the right? not being there I can't tell of course.

OK finally another TV timeout, got this finished. And somebody get the puck past Rask already!

I see EXACTLY what you mean! Thanks so much vintagesnaps :) I'll keep that in mind- important lesson i think haha! 0-0 OH NO!! LETS GO HABS- THE PRICE IS RIGHTTTTTTTT!

The only good thing about the B's is one time I saw Ray Bourque (after he'd retired from playing) at a college hockey tourney his son was playing in. The photographer in me took over first and I got a nice portrait style photo of him in the concourse. Then the hockey fan took over and I babbled like an incoherent nitwit getting his autograph.

Other than that, have you ever seen any of the NHL hardware (or is it silver ware?) in person? The Richard trophy is stunning.

HAHA That's sweet!!! Just googled it- it's pretttttttty nice! I've seen the Stanley Cup- I think that's plenty silver! :P Another game today! The OT goal was so lucky last time- Idm losing as long as it's fair.

Oh and ignore us hockey fanatics, comments are still welcome :)
