Took some of my first night shots while I was working in DC. I converted a couple to BW because the colors seemed off/bland at night. Any C&C would be appreciated.

#1 - World War Memorial

#2 - This one seems kind of boring but at the same time I like the simplicity. Thoughts?

#3 - Seems like some distortion in this one. I had trouble fixing it in LR.

Tough choice, but I like the 3rd image best.

I like what your going for in the first shot, but there's just something not quite right. Maybe someone with a little more insight than me can put their finger on it. Still a good shot but there's something missing.

My opinions:

1- I like this one, but it feels off because there is no foreground - its cropped to close to the front of the fountain.

2- This one lacks detail in the background. If more detail were visible in the tree line in front of the monument it might help, but there is also very little detail in the monument. I think this would have been better in color.

3 -Again, to me it lacks deatil and like the monument shot, its just a stark white object against total black.

I see your point with no foreground on #1, good point. I think I cropped it, I'll check and see if I have any room in front.

Any suggestions on number 3 if I was to reshoot again? It was a well lit building next to the whitehouse. I wanted to capture the detail of the building and not let you be distracted by the tree and such so I boosted up the black in the tree. Maybe instead try a longer exposure to get some detail in the night sky and tree? Might need two exposures for that because the building was pretty bright, the top right of the building is bordering on over exposed.

Thanks for the thoughts!

for #1 i like the idea but would play around with shutter speed for the water and get a bit more definition
