I use GIMP, but I can do that. I think the vertical 4:5 crop may be the best of both words though.

I like it - I think it's a really nice pic. I think the crop helps it a lot. I know how tough it is to catch these little guys being still so props to you for catching such a nice moment.

On second thought, I think it may be doing more harm than good by drawing they eye away...

If that side were black, he would be nicely framed by black on both sides... Some sort of vertical crop may actually work here...

If you have Photoshop you can just clone black in over the guitar.

I think as a generic photo, the 4:5 crop with the guitar removed might be stronger. But, as a family photo, the guitar sort of "belongs". Ya know what I mean?

Definitely. Thanks for posting - not sure if I would have even considered the crop without the small push. I like them both, and if I had to print only one, I'm not sure which I would choose.

J/K, cool photo. It really brings back childhood memories of those rare times when it would rain and all I could do was gaze out the window wishing it would stop.

Yeah, this was "the one rainstorm" for the season, and I have proof that it happened now.

Seriously, the kids drew some stuff on the sidewalk with chalk - and it stayed there for a good 4 months.

I like the crop. And I wasn't even particularly bothered by the guitar, but now that it's gone, I do like it better.

As for the hand...*shrug* I don't care that you can't see all of the fingers. In fact, I think I like it better. Looks less staged. Probably why I didn't mind the guitar.
