Our Cricket is much the same, the water just passes over her.

Our Siamese cat is the same...she has her own recirculating water bowl, but when she sees me or her dad (hubby), she'd ask to open the tap a little bit so that she can drink from it...

She will often lap @ the stream of water rather than from the basin as seen here.
