It's soft......tells us your settings and light setup. :sexywink: Keep working on it!! Water drop shots are a lot of fun. If you are just playing around it can take awhile to get good ones!!!

Well it's a ghetto setup lol as my funds don't run as fluidly as I'd like lol. I had my clear container of water with the bag suspended by one of my tripods. I had the shutter speed at 1/200 and f8 I had a table lamp to the side lighting the water and a white billboard at the back of the container. I also used manual focus instead of auto focus. I tries af but it just kept going in and out and pissing me off. And I used my 18-55mm, the only other lens I have is my 75-300 I thought the 18-55mm would be a better choice. Thanks for the c&c!!

Did you shoot by hand, or with a remote? and Live view or not?

I shot handheld and through the viewfinder.

Try a tripod ;)
I could never get them doing handheld.

Keep working at it, it takes a while, but you should be able to get it.
For mine, I just put my camera on a tripod, set it to like 1/1000 or something, and shot about 60 shots continuous while the drops were falling. Your bound to get one good one.

shoot on a tripod, more parallel rather than down to the splash and use your flash to capture the action. take off of AF and use MF to a set position that you know the splash will happen

Will try it on my tripod thanks!! I think I'm gonna try it with live view as well. Thanks for the video mishele I've had it as a favorite on my YouTube account for awhile it's a great tutorial!! I really need to get me a flash lol do you guys think I should try it with my 75-300mm? I just think I'd have to be quite far away and wouldn't get the shot I desire for

Ok guys I tried a few more tonight and here's another one with a little editing in lightroom

Yes I did and I had at f8 maybe f9 or f10 would be better?

If you are using the bag to drip the water.......try using something else. I put a pencil point hole in the bottom of a cup. It helped the water come out at the exact same spot each time. It looks like your focus point was in front and to the left of your drop.

It just has too shallow a DOF. the base if the spout is in focus just not the drop at the top. which lens are you using at what focal length?
