A statue taken at Whitstable Castle.

Used the 50mm prime lens. Little bit of Photoshopping, conversion to monochrome, high pass filter applied to make her stand out.

C&C welcome as always :)

Is it that bad?

Seriously though, let me know what you guys don't like about it or how you think I can improve. Any feedback is very much welcome.

I don't think it's bad at all... but...

my opinion here, I don't care for the tilt and the girl seems to blend in with the background, though in focus (which I like very much!) the gray overtone seems to just blend in to me.

Jermz, Thank you for taking the time to reply :)

I certainly undestand your comments regarding the 'tilt'. Some people like it, others hate it. The only reason I did it so was to try and make the photo a touch more 'dynamic' or 'exciting'. I think all I achieved was to give people neck pain!

I tried hard to make her stand out. With similar tones, obviously that is difficult, perhaps I should use a shallower depth of field next time, open it up all the way to f1.8.

Thanks again.

I think the shot is very good, however I think f 1.8 would look a little better!!!;)

Actually, I think the tilt works, the only flaw I see was mentioned above, and that's the fact that the statue tends to blend with the background... If you can get to that location again, I would try shooting it in color, or, do some post-production and darken the background for better contrast. I really think the tilt you gave it brings the statue to life and adds a certain character to her... nice shooting
