Web interface for clients to access their photos?

I've been having a heck of a time trying to find what I'm looking for. I need to get a website up.. not just as a portfolio, but as a place where clients can log in and view their sets, download them, etc.

I'm not doing any paid shoots right now, but in the future I will. This weekend I've done 4 shoots for friends/family for free (practice for me), and I keep running into a common problem: getting the high-res photos to them. The sets are usually way too big to email, and I don't like having to use an online file host to get the files to them.

I want something that will let me set up a client account, so I can send them the address and a password and they can log in and grab all the photos. I know things like this exist, but I can't find anything.

Does anyone use something like this? I'm ready to buy the domain and the hosting.. now I just need the software.

I eventually plan on creating my own (programming's my day job), but for the time being, I need something to get me by.

I use smugmug and it works great! It can do everything you mentioned.

You could easily setup a wordpress site, with a password protected gallery. It's easy
