Went to a gold mining ghost town - PICT HEAVY

This place is called Bodie State Park. It is a gold mining town named Bodie, after one of the prospectors who initially struck gold here. I went there with my neices and their husbands. They have a home in Bridgeport not far from Bodie so we stayed there for a few days.

Beautiful renderings of the town; your ranges of midtones give the pictures great richness.

Very nice set…you’ve captured it well. I visited Bodie a few years back. It is probably the best of the western ghost towns to visit.

Thank you. It is such a treat to go to places like this. So glad the state decided to preserve it by making it a state park.

Some great shots there

Great shot, interesting place. I like the sign beneath the window in the second shot. Old Gold Cigarettes, perfect for a gold mining town.

Agreed. Apparently there were many restaurants/bars there in the boomtime years, but they all burned down in the big fire that destroyed most of the town.

wow, you captured some stand out individual photos, but they really shine as a group. you get a real sense of the place through your photos.
