What's new

What camera have you loved beyond all others?

You're quite fortunate if you start shooting as an adolescent, as your natural enthusiasm for everything is prone to be high.

Me and my canonet were pretty much like Gollum and 'the precious'. :D

Totally don't blame you.

Canonets are fantastic cameras. I love those little things, and I wish that Canon would make a APS-C or FF digital version.

Ever try to take one apart? They're built like a tank.

Kodak Retina Reflex IV (Type 051). A very well made camera.

I haven't owned very many cameras, and most of them have been second hand.
But so far... pentax k1000. I own 3, and would buy another 20 if I found them. they last forever, durable, lighter then some SLRs, cheap, and just feel good in the hands. and the first film camera I ever shot with. (had a minolta srt-101 first, but it was broken so never actually sent any film through it)

Mamiya Rz67 Pro II for film

Nikon D810 (just purchased) and loving it for digital

Any Minolta SRT plus SR1s / SR7V with outside meter and lower compact body.
Laterly , Prewar Contax / Kiev rebuilds and combinations - notably a Contax III body with early Kiev 4 top plate controls and meter .
All 5 created for me by ex Arsenal techs in Ukraine !!
I love the continuity of a camera which is 1937 and 1957 !!!

I'll fifth the SRT-101, my first SLR.

Especially a black SRT !
I love my 3/4rds Digital Leica Digilux 3 plus a spare Panasonic L1 body , with a pair of Olympus kit lenses which are lighter and smaller than the Leica f2.8 zoom .

My favorite...Olympus OM1 purchased in 1978........recently used it at the Grand Canyon.......
