you have a spare Speedotron snoot and a bunch of soup cans kicking around the house? Why turn it into a new hairlight of course!
The Speedotron snoots are well made, 22 Ga sheet metal and since I really had no need for two, I thought I'd get creative. I cut a 2.5" slot out of the length of the snoot, and then found a soup tin with an ID the same as the snoot's OD, and affixed it using 3 #6 sheet-metal screws and put a wrap of black gaf tape around the outside. I then painted the inside with Wal-mart rattle-can white, and voila... done.
Total cost? About $2.00 and fifteen minutes (not including drying time for the paint).
