what do you guys think of this?

I shot this last night I don't know how I feel about it. I'm still trying to get the hang of shooting flash indoor using semi high iso.

Looks alright. The shadows don't show up much since he had a dark patterned shirt on (otherwise you'd see his arm's shadow on his shirt). If you want to balance your flash to the indoor light (so the background doesn't look red-orange) you'll have to gel your flash to match the ambient light and set a custom white balance.

the face he is making pretty much makes the photo un usable do you have different shots of him or did you just take the one. he looks silly haha!

Thanks Rez I was actually going to look into the red/ orange backgrounds today and how to avoid it

he means you have underexposed the image by using your exposure compension dial.
