What flash do I need for my 5D?

Hello,
First time poster, and newbie photographer here :blushing:.
I have a Canon 5D and need a flash but know next to nothing about them. I want something that will be suitable for shooting interiors (real estate listings), locations (I'm thinking mostly just needing a bit of fill light sometimes) and people shots (portraits/weddings etc). Can one flash handle this kind of range of work? What sort of things do I need to look for and consider? Have a limited budget. Any pointers much appreciated. Thanks.

Canon 580 EX II if you want to stick with a Canon product. I'm not sure what an off brand would be that is similar to that.

I also don't know what YOU classify as a limited budget, but when it comes to photography gear, limited budget is not always a good thing - I've learned that from experience
