What Is The Acceptable Shade To Use In Digital Photos?

Thanks everyone! Yes, the selection of photo shades is an arbitrary thing. I agree now that the photographer decides how his pictures should look like and sometimes what is in the image determines the appropriate shade he should use, and what people are willing to pay for. Thank you, all your advices in here are appreciated very much.

I took a photo of my wife yesterday, but with the lighting I noticed her skin tones looked a little bland in the photo. Not quite as bad as brainacks original of his wife above but not to good. I bumped up the in camera color and it came much closer to accurate. The white balance on auto, didn't really help. tried manual setting for white balance spot. didn't really make it much better. messing with the color in camera fixed it. The white balance, i noticed it really changed the entire photo, which i didn't like. i just wanted it closer to what it looked like, but not the entire photo changed drastically.

Shoot raw, mess in a capable program.
