What kind of lens for D700

any fx lens....

DX won't do full frame right?
DX works just fine on a FX body.

But, since a DX lens is designed to project a smaller image circle most DX lens can't fully illuminate a FX image sensor.

Indeed, Nikon FX cameras has an automatic DX lens sensing system that is used to then only activate the DX size block of pixels on the FX sensor. However, that automatic DX lens sensing system can be deactivated in the D700 menus.

Wow, you know all the D numbers, that's cool.
I just want to know about the 700, excuse me for you that would be D700

Well if you would have read the link you would know exactly the answer to your question. Perhaps you needed a better question. The D700 is not some totally unique item just as the Ford emblem. 'That same oval emblem fits the front of the pickup trucks and their SUV's.
