Got one through Skeaser.com and it only fires 1/2 the time. So I got to get a new one. Any recomendations?

I have some of the older Cactus triggers and they weren't reliable enough for me. I now use Cyber Syncs from Alien Bee and they have been fantastic.

The cactus V5 works great. They switched to the 2.4Ghz band and it makes them much more reliable.
They have a range of close to 300 feet now.

I am pretty happy so far.

+1 for Cyber Syncs, I have been using them for over a year and not a single miss fire

My personal choice are Pocket Wizards, but part of that is based on the fact that it is the industry standard, especially in sports venues, so I needed the compatibility. If it wasn't for that I would go for Cyber Syncs as well.

I use the Pocket Wizards Plus II and the Flexx TT5. If you're looking for reliablity within Pocket Wizard go with the Plus II(No TTL though) - Never missed a beat with the Plus II in years. . If you want High Speed Sync and TTL go with the Flexx TT5, however you won't get any consistent triggers beyond 50 ft even with the shield(if you're shooting Canon).

They are pricey.

Plus II : $169.00
Flexx TT5: $219.00

+1 for the pocketwizard plus II's. They are extremely reliable and as everyone knows in photography you get what you pay for!

+1 for Pocket Wizards!

Sent from Erics iPhone! (2) Nikon D300 50mm 1.4, 17-55 2.8, 70-200 2.8VRII, 24-70 2.8, 85mm 1.4, (2) SB900

+3 pocket wizards if you are going to stay at this for a while. I've only had one fail and they have a standing $99 dollar repair cost.

Shoot well, Joe

I've also used PWs a fair bit and yes, they are the industry standard. But yikes are they expensive, that's why we call them 'Poverty Wizards'. And as unlikely as it is, I've had (& seen) way more problems with PW than with my Cyber Syncs.
