I'm with those who suggest a back drop. Since this is something you do repeatedly, it might make sense to buy a roll of backdrop paper and a stand for it. Then instead of worrying about blurring the background you can simply ignore the background. It is very common studio gear and not terribly expensive - certainly much less expensive than a lens.
