Personally, I'd crop out the upper stairs and the pipe on the right.

I would have cut the bottom part to leave a small triangle and probably cloned two shadow lines. Desaturated it a bit and darken the shadows. I like the pipes.

Good eye, but I agree it needs either mono treatment or a bump in contrast and perhaps a touch of structure.
It just doesn't pop enough. Setting the black point may be all that's needed.

Thanks much to everyone for looking and commenting. I had desaturated it a bit to deemphasize the color and I agree that I didn't go far enough, so here's a conversion. I'm with the people that like the pipe, which to me is part of a path leading around the outside of the frame. I also cropped the bottom as suggested (though not as much) to come in closer to the horizontal part of the pipe.
