What's your most used focal length?

You can use software like ExposurePlot to see which focal length you make most of your photos at.
Lightroom also keeps track of it, if you use that.

I would say I use either 85mm or 100mm the most...

It's been a while since I've used it, but you can sort by camera body, lens, focal length, ISO, shutter speed, pretty much anything.

I think I have screenshots of it somewhere... I'll try to dig it up. (I don't have LR on this computer.)

You can add more fields than that too. Those are just the ones I typically looked at.

thank you! I may answer now exactly as I supposed: 50-55mm, then 135mm.

Interesting responses. I always shoot landscapes and tend to shoot very wide.

Do most of you shooting in the 50mm range have people as the subject?

60mm I shoot a lot of macro. When walking around I like to use my 50mm.

I think the reason that the 50mm focal length is so prevalent among posters is because it's usually the first lens people buy after they get their camera. A cheap 50mm f/1.8. It's also a good and cheap lens for portraiture, which a lot of photographers do. Shooting "wide" is more characteristic landscape photography.

Those are just my guesses though.

For me its because that's the lens that most easily allows me to fit the body in the case with a lens attached. Usually, I'm just too damned lazy to swap out lenses unless the situation calls for a different FL.

Which is more often than not.... but the 50 still wins by a slim margin when we talk about actual use. Followed closely by 135mm, then 28mm, then 180.

Haha, funny you mention that. It's the same deal for me too.

First, I like portraits.
Second, when I travel for work, thus light, I usually bring with me the kit lens (18-55).
Third, in my small collection of old lenses there are a number of 135mm... and I like to use them :).

Thanks for the tip about ExposurePlot. I let it analyze last year's pictures and it had spikes around 29mm, 89mm and 440mm. I use a crop body and these correlate to 18, 55 and 270mm. Now go figure out what two zoom lenses I have. ;)
