When your camera batteries decide it's too cold

Ah, it was right around the freezing mark today. I’ve taken photos in below zero F temps, but the batteries were fully charged and warm. My camera had been in my car for a bit, so the battery was cold and it hadn’t been fully charged. I normally shoot with a grip, so I didn’t even notice how low they were. I was able to take the battery out, warm it up a bit in my hand, and a get a couple of shots, but nothing worth keeping.

Wow - it wasn't even that cold this morning. The iPhone did a nice job on that scene.

Or get a mechanical film camera! It won't freeze any faster than I will! At least not where I live or in hockey rinks, that's all I need.

Very nice! Can't count on my cellphone saving the day. Horrible camera. Lol.

Posted a waterfall photo a couple weeks ago. It was 36 degrees that morning. When we learned what it would take to get to the bottom, I went back to the car to lighten the load. That included removing the grip. Took a few photos on the way. 30-40 minutes later, at the bottom. Found a spot, set up the tripod and leveled the camera. Hooked up the remote shutter release and framed the shot. Hit the button.....REPLACE THE BATTERY. Should have seen the look on my son's face. And again when I pulled a nice warm battery from my pocket! Got the shot I came for. Read enough of you guys horror stories.
