Should I go DSLR or Mirrorless???
I'm thinking mirrorless (they can easily use DSLR lens )

Yes, they"can use" d-slr lenses....typically without diaphragm automation, with no autofocus, with no EXIF information, and with no automatic in-camera correction for lens defects like fall-off of light, without chromatic aberration correction, and without distortion correction, etc.. Yeah...being able to use a modern autofocusing lens without autofocus, without focus confirmation, without the corrections that can be done when EXIF information is tagged into the files...this is not what I call easy use of off-branded lenses on mirrorless bodies.
Using legacy lenses on mirrorless cameras is a mixed bag of some benefits and some absolutely huge drawbacks...For the beginner, there is a HUGE advantage to using native lenses on a camera! Sony lenses on Sony! Canon on Canon! Nikon on Nikon! Fuji on Fuji.
If not brand-on-brand, then at least use the CORRECT lens mount type on each camera! For the beginner, using legacy lenses on mirrorless has more negatives than positives. AF cameras work the best, easiest, and fastest with AF lenses, of the **proper** mount type and style!
There: the actual truth.
