which lens to bring...

im always confused on which lens to bring when i go out...i like the 50mm because of the 1.8 for low light places but it has no zoom...then the 28-135 has IS and a nice zoom but its only a 3.5...im always debating on which one to bring...example...i was at a christmas party for work last week...it was fairly dark...i used the 28-135 and increased the ISO...i think i would have been better off with the 50mm,but because it has no zoom and it isn't the widest lens i didnt bring it....any tips to solve this prob?...or should i just bring both

I'd bring both, but if you're going to use the 28-135 just pack your flash as well, then you should be fine.
