I would not buy these lens new unless they come in a kit.

The money IMO would be better used on a nifty fifty either 1.8 or 1.4 flavor. Good luck.

If the OP doesn't want to do primes then I may suggest they buy used from a reputable dealer. Paying full price for a brand new kit len is wsdteful.

But then a again it is not my money.
I would go for the d5200 w/kit lens package.

I have conflicting feelings about this. On the one hand you are exposed to a greater range but you have a higher learning curve, but on the other hand a prime lens will force your hand explore all the aspects of say: a 50mm, and you won't have as much on your plate so you can focus on all the other aspects of photography. I would compare giving a zoom lens to a beginner to letting a child use a bike without training wheels first. That's just my opinion on the whole thing thinking about it retrospectively.
