I'm having a hard time getting the white balance right on a few pictures I took yesterday. It seems like my computer screen is way out of wack because it looks right here but then I try to print one and it seems off balance. Any suggestions?

I'm guessing it's your printer and/or monitor that are out of whack. The WB in that image looks fine and if it looks fine on your monitor as well, then it's your printer that needs calibrating. What sort of printer are you using?

Just my regular printer at my house, its nothing fancy. I simply printed to try to see the colors. I just feel like this white balance is off because it is somewhere in the 9000k range which seems awfully high. I just don't trust my laptop monitor..it always seems to be off.

It it looks okay on someone else's monitor than that eases my pain.

It looks pretty close to me too. If anything i'd say its very slightly on the warm side but nothing major.

What type of paper did you print on? Is the printer designed to print photographs?

Just normal everyday paper and a regular printer nothing special or even photo specific. I guess that's not a good way to check colors? I had never tried it before today.

And yes..a little on the warm side I was thinking as well but I can easily change that..I think it just needs a small tweak.

I'm on a calibrated monitor as well and wb looks good to me as well. Why dont you try printing it somewhere else other than your printer as see what results you get. I noticed you said your laptop monitor. Is that what your using for editting?

Okay if your's is calibrated than that makes me feel great! I really need to figure out how to make sure mine is calibrated correctly..it really makes me feel like I waste so much time editing sometimes. I am using this laptop for editing..its all I have.

Could anyone steer me in the right direction to calibrate it? I tried the google search and stuff but I can't even find a brightness and contrast adjustment on this thing. I'm using Windows Vista.
