White rose. I love this result

Took this photo earlier today with the help on my flash Speedlight 430EX.

Color one looks really good. IDK, for some reason, the B&W kind of makes the flower petals look wilted.

yeah I think its because there is less detail in the petals on the b/w

I like it, but I can't escape the feeling that the lower petals should be brighter...

The color one is certainly striking. I like it a lot.

The black and white one almost doesn't look like a white rose.

Thank you all so much for the very positive comments. I used an external flash mounted on top of the camera, thus the top of the flower being very lit up (an amazing effect), i can at a later stage use my sync cord to light up the whole flower a bit more.


The background was a white all and it was around 4pm - daylight. So i was very pleased with the fairly black background making the rose stand out.

Some of you may know that I'm entering a photographic competition at my school with some good competition, do you think i should enter this or go for something a bit different ?

Okay, I definatly prefer the colour one as well. I am entering a competition at my school with some stiff competition with the subject being ' light ' would this be a good entry do you think ?
