... turns on the Olympics and watches cameras & lenses in the photographers' section?

I haven't heard anything credible about new stuff showing up under cover there this year, but I know they've done that from time to time.

Hmm. Maybe a reason to watch them... I do look at the equipment when watching F1 though.

Lambert pix, give it some time. They are still full of stories on the athletes. At some point, I am sure we will hear or see something new!

I've turned them on but haven't really seen any of the camera people more than a glance. (Well except for the tv cameras that were at the figure skating rink last night.)

Yeah, I saw that, too. Also heard that the D4s is there.

Funny... there's a photographer on FB who's over there, and someone asked him if he'd seen a 7D-II -- as if he wouldn't be covered by an NDA.

Funny... there's a photographer on FB who's over there, and someone asked him if he'd seen a 7D-II -- as if he wouldn't be covered by an NDA.

Depends on if who has him there. If he's shooting and just happens to have a conversation about equipment with a fellow photog, then he wouldn't probably have an NDA. The photog that has the camera on loan from Canon would most likely have one.

I'm an Olympics junkie; I have a lot/hate relationship with the Olympics. I love it because of all the sports, the human interest stories about the athletes, etc.
I hate it because it sucks me in and I get no sleep for two weeks. I will find myself sitting on my bed at 2 a.m watching some sport I didn't even know existed and don't really understand (this actually happened during the last Summer Games. 2 a.m. and somehow I get suckered into watching this event, the whole time thinking to myself, "What the HECK is this? This is a SPORT???" But I sat there and watched it anyway, because it was the Olympics.

Anyway…as much as I am a fan of the Olympics, I have to say that I very RARELY notice the photographers. Interesting; you'd think I'd pay them more attention, but I just don't. Probably will NOW, though, so thanks for THAT. :lol:

Sharon, I'm that way with curling in the winter olympics. I have NO CLUE about the rules of the sport but I just find it interesting watching them slip down the ice with a broom sweeping the path of this big rock with a handle on it.

Who on Earth thinks of stuff like that and how do they decide to put it in the Olympics?

What a great TPF debate we could have over whether or not curling is a sport or a skill. I used to hate golf until I started playing. Definitely a sport!

BTW - You should only be allowed to use Olympus cameras at the Olympics. Just saying.

jacaranda, I try to stay on solid, non-skid ground, but I would venture that it isn't easy to slide on ice and sweep it at the same time. Now whether it's a sport or not, I'm not to judge.

I'm a golfer myself and will agree that it is a sport. Even more so when you add another sport with it (drinking beer)

Oh Jeez, Curling!!! Curling is, I think, my favorite ridiculous Olympic sport ever. Watching Curling, and listening to them go on and on about it, actually makes me WANT to curl…do curling…play curling…whatever the term is, lol!!
Because there is just something incredibly appealing about hurling a great big rock across a sheet of ice and then use a BROOM to "sweep" it towards its target. A Broom for heaven's sake!! Who knew you could play sports with a broom?!? :lmao:

And the even bigger question--the one I always find myself thinking as I watch these things--who just wakes up one morning and decides to make it their life's goal to become an Olympian in some of these events??
I mean seriously, how do you figure OUT that what you really want out of life is to be part of the American Olympic team to win the first medal in curling? Or decide that you are SO good at skiing long distances and then lying down and shooting at things that you should be in the Olympics for it.

I actually heard a radio interview with a biathlete (?) where the interviewer asked essentially that same question, assuming that the girl had been a great skier and decided to add shooting so she could compete in the biathlon. Instead, she said she'd grown up hunting with her dad, and wound up needing to learn to ski to compete.

But I can't explain curling. ;-)
