WHOOPING CRANE

i really like all the heron pictures that are being posted and having herons around my house a bunch, i know it's pretty difficult to get close to them.

i have made a few pictures of them over the years and will post just one that i like.

whooping crane.....international crane foundation, baraboo,wi.

i was suprised to see a pair of these birds out where you could get pictures in their natural environment. they have most where you can't even see them. the whooper came really close to extinction a few years back.
in the last few years they have re-introduced a group into a migration route to florida if i am not mistaken.

very cool shots!! I like the heron in its environment.. and I look fwd to seeing the ones we saw today back in the creeks and ponds.

i have been seeing the herons winging across the sky around here for a couple of weeks now. they sure cut a differant type of profile in flight. reminds me more of pteradactyl(i just know that aint spelt right! lol)
