Because he had a dog after him.

I would not believe it if I had not seen it. I guess when you are too young to fight, you find an alternate method. My dog was lucky this was not a mature groundhog, they can hold their own.

It did make a good photo OP and in about 10 minutes the little fellow was on his way.

I saw this once when I was Kayaking a local lake, except it was a full sized one. It was early fall and it looked like it was getting some sun.

Because their legs are to short to get a good view? Are there prizes for getting the correct answer:biggrin-93:

I had no clue a groundhog could climb! Our late dog was tearing through an overgrown field a couple years ago and almost stepped on a baby one. That thing hissed and showed the worst yellow teeth I have seen in quite some time. They looked very sharp and dangerous! Thankfully Miss Daisy never knew it was there. A few porcupines in her life weren't so lucky ( or should I say she wasn't so lucky in noticing them? ).

Yup, my boy Webster tangled with a huge mama and it wasn't playing.

I've never seen anything like that and may not have believed it if I hadn't!!

A few make their home under my shed and I've seen them run faster than you would think possible. But I have never seen them climb anything.

I would answer that but it would make me look silly. :stupid:
It's a cool shot, not often seen apparently.
