Wide angle lens for candid and street photography?

I'm looking for one I don't have to spend an arm and a leg for. The problem I'm having is, I want it to fit EF mounts so that when I upgrade from my T3i I don't have to buy another. The other thing is, I don't want it to exceed 20mm with the 1.6 crop factor and I want around 30mm of reach with or without crop. I've spent hours looking at third party lenses but I can't make up my mind. The one I'm currently wanting is the Sigma 12-24mm but there aren't too many reviews on it. Also, I'm not looking for a converter unless you want to give me one haha. It sucks because I'm having to use my kit lens for shots and having to really sharpen them in post

I like the 17-40 but I wish it was closer to 10mm :/

Or you could find yourself an older Canon 17-35 2.8 that would fit what you are looking for. They still make great images.

you could also try the 28mm f/1.8 Canon. Its about $400. Its a prime, but its also more compact and faster when needed.

19-35 Cosina not the fastest lens, i had some great images from mine dont use it any more, but for street pbotography i use an M4 and 28mm which is perfect
