wide angles lens for landscape

So I'm wanting a landscape lens to get a little better glass than the tamron 18-270 I'm using at 18. I was going to go with the Tokina 11-16 because of the great reviews, but when I looked at it I realized it's f2.8 which might jack up price for an un-needed wider aperture. Is there any alternatives for a Canon? A prime would probably be fine anything around 18mm.

The Sigma 8-16 is the widest rectilinear lens that you can get. I've been eyeing it myself.

The Sigma 8-16 is an impressive lens. Not only does it go to 8, but it's sharper and less distorted at 11 than a lot of competition, but it doesn't accept filters. The Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 is nice as well. That being said, I love my Tokina 11-16, they're all good options.

I wanted the 10-20 at first only because it can accept filters but my friend got the sigma 8-16 and once I used it I fell in love. I then ended up buying one as well and am glad I did!! The only flaw is it doesn't take filters but if you can live with that then I suggest getting it. It's uses the best glass sigma makes and the shots are so clear. It takes very impressive shots indoors as well but it does distort badly when close up to things but they make programs to fix it so no worries.

You asked about a Canon lens.
I have the Canon 10-22 3.5 and I like it a lot but it's expensive.
I think it's worth the money if you have the budget.

That sigma 8-16 does seem pretty nice. Are there options if I don't need auto focus? I will most likely do a fair amount of night shots and don't use autofocus at all for them and sometimes I won't for landscape also during the day. Otherwise the Sigma 8-16 does seem like what I am looking for.

Autofocus is not a MUST when doing landscape especially since you will be most likely using a smaller aperture anyways.. The 8-16 would be good for you if you are looking for that slightly larger FOV then the 10-20..
