This is my first post on the forum. I'm pretty new to photography. Right now my main camera is a kodak z612 that I like, but I'm pretty sure I want to get a dslr someday. My sister let me have a Canon Rebel X 35mm film slr that I have been using. These pictures are from the kodak. Let me know what you think. thanks.

The first one isn't isolated very well and I don't like the half dying shot in the top/left.

Second I like more but I'd have nipped away the dead bud and if it's possible on your cam go for a wider aperature / lower f number again to seperate the background a bit more. Portrait mode or Macro mode might do it for you too.

I like these shots, but definitely consider nossie's advice.

I really like both of them.
