Came across a new(to me) duck while out kayaking today. It's a female Ruddy Duck; never have seen one before. Driving home, came across a flock of female Wild Turkeys. Only had time to shotgun off a couple of shots, and these are heavily cropped.

Joel,

Ruddy Ducks are a small size specie of diving ducks They are known as "stiff tailed ducks" and are identifiable at a distance by a small stubby tail that is held at an abrup,t upward angle relative to the rest of their body.

I'm aware of that, and there is a small, stubby tail there. It isn't always held upright though.....just often.

Alright, you stated a new specie to you, so was just being helpful to yourself and others unfamiliar but reading your post as to ID of this interesting waterfowl specie.
