Challenging light for the bird, yes but I like the contrast of the light on the rocks. His soft feathers against the hard, jagged rock add another dimension of contrast. Nice pics overall!

Thanks. I was actually standing on the limestone rocks photographing surfers.

As the swell was lumpy and the surfing was uninteresting I thought I would have a crack at the birds.

Good to be versatile lol.
