Are you asking for C&C? I like this image, but it could be improved.

My first thought was that the little boy's life isn't so bad as the title suggests. He seems healthy and clean, well clothed, and watched carefully by his grandmother. As a social vignette, this photo doesn't thrust anything too heavy at me. Actually, it's rather sweet and light; even those two little pigeons add a cheerful element.

It isn't social commentary, at least it isn't in it's present form. It's family drama. I would have tried an even lower angle of view - from the pavement, maybe - and tried making the grandmother's gaze the focal point. She's the main character. Her emotions and attitude and expressions, seen from the child's perspective, are the point of the image and should be better presented.

Technically, the faces seem a bit OOF. But the legs in the background don't distract much and otherwise it looks pretty good.
