Won't Let Go

I have no idea what kind of tree/shrub this is... but it holds onto it's leaves all winter... anyone have an idea?

It's a hornbeam.
I like them. They add just this tiny bit of colour to an otherwise fairly colourless countryside!

I once tried to catch THAT very moment when in spring they produce the fresh leaves and still cling to the old, JUST before they finally drop them. At the time I also liked my photos, but today I see sooo many errors in them, wrongly exposed, too narrow a DOF, camera shake ... I really have to watch out for that one moment (it is only DAYS in which the transition happens) in April to come (or May, depending on the weather) and go reshoot, hoping to be better this time.

it really is beautiful amongst the brown and white.

it would be cool to see some of your old photos, too.
