I went birdwatching the other day but there were no birds close enough to photograph. Someone at the hawkwatch brought their dog so I shot him instead. I've never shot dogs or pets before so this is a first. I had my D300 70-300mm lens at 100mm, ISO 200, Shutter 1/200 f4.5. C&C always appreciated.

Thanks! Someday I hope to get a good shot of one of my kids. It is proving much more illusive.

Great photo! You lucked out with his face being fluffy around the edges here. Fills the frame nicely. It looks like the eyes have been just a tad oversharpened..but wonderful photo. You should be proud.
