Well, I went to the camera store today, and picked up a never been opened, sold as used Nikon SB-27 and another radio receiver.

Now we can start having some fun! Mwuhaaa haaa haaa haa.......

I'm going to be doing some informal portraits of the wifey and youngest kiddo tonight, and have some good ideas as to what to try... provided their patience holds out. I AM however, looking for some other ideas. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

I'm only planning on doing headshots, (all the room I really have....) and here is what I have at my disposal.

Two light stands
Two umbrellas, 0ne 33" shoot through, and one 42" convertible
A Nikon SB-600
A Nikon SB-27
2 radio receivers and trigger
A 42" 5 in 1 reflector
some camera
some lense.

I will be using some blue curtains as a backdrop since I don't have a proper background, and have verified that shooting my Nikkor135mm f/2.8 AI (I love this lens) at f/4 I can get my subject in focus, and blow out the curtains.

Advice welcomed!

have fun!!!!!!!!!!

Don't shoot at f4, shoot at f8, 1/125 sb600, shoot through brolly camera left or right at 45 just above head height and your other flash bare opposite higher than main light as a hair light, reflector camera left or right bouncing light from main light and keep your subject as far away from the background as possible

I would usually shoot at f/8, 1/125 if I had the room, the only problem is that my makeshift ****ty backdrop doesn't melt away at f/8 with the space I have like it does at f/4. I will give it a go both ways though, just for funsies. :) I may still be able to have the backdrop acceptable.

Thanks for the input on the umbrella placement, I will gove it a go! Didn't even occur to me to use the second speedlight bare as a hairlight. Shows you what I know....
