Worth getting a teleconverter?

I have the Nikon 70-300 VR and it is specifically noted to not use a TC with this lens.........

Nikon's TCs are manufactured specifically to exclude this lens. You can either purchase other brands, or shave a Nikon TC and it will fit.

TC's are ok if you pair them with decent fast glass. I have a good quality 1.4 that really only gets used with a 70-200 f/2.8.
