Have you thought about extension tubes?
I haven't tried macro filters, so don't know if you could get a large one and use reducer rings to fit, say a 77 mm filter to a lens with a 72 mm thread. Perhaps results would vary due to the extra space?
One set of extension tubes will work for any body and lens combination that have the same mount.

I have a set of Polaroid +10, +4, +2, +1 that haven't been used much. I'll have to double check the filter size but I believe they were Ø58mm. I'll sell them for $10 plus shipping. Below are the ones that I have. I think the +2 and +1 are still in the plastic. I can pull them out and look for sure tonight.
