WTB Nikon SB-400

well... most likely because it has a higher guide number, sits higher on the camera to prevent red eye, and you can also bounce this flash upwards.. since it's feeds off 2 x AA the D40's internal battery will last much longer...

great flash for the price.... i wish i held on to mine for light travel days...

no doubt bigger flashes are better but they also cost more..

Thank you. Also, I feel like I don't need the benefits of the sb-600 right now and since i'm a teenager struggling to get money, $100 more is a significant increase in price.

It would be nice to have a small, compact, external flash that i can bounce, and that just has a little more power overall. Look at my gear and you'll know that i'm way on the cheap side of photography.

If you don't have anything helpful to say in this thread then please stay out of it.
