X or M ????

I have got hold of an old Russian Zenith (or ZENIT-E, as is says on the casing) and there's something that is puzzling me.

Under the shutter speed dial, there is a manual switch that can be set to X or slid round 180 degrees to the M position.

I have absolutely no idea of what it does, but I'd love to find out.

Anyone have any ideas??????

X should be the flash synch setting. M? Wild quess- bulb setting for long exposures maybe? :?:

So if I'm shooting without a flash, think I'm better using the X or M setting??

The M setting is for bare bulb flash. Use only the x setting and make sure the lever is set at X.
