Yashica mat 124g help

Hello, I would appreciate help with my yashica mat. I removed the batteries a couple of months ago, and now i cant open the batterie compartment lid. It seems stuck and i can't make it rotate.
Any suggestions?

Also, for future ease, use a Scotch Brite pad, and clean the threads of the cap, and those of the chamber. It's likely that a bit of "crud" has built up.
