I'm going about this backwards - I've already posted, but haven't introduced myself yet.
My name is Brian, I'm 34, married for 11 years and have an 8 month old daughter. I've always been interested in photography and the "big cameras". I worked on yearbook all through high school and college so was always taking pictures of something. My cousin had an SLR camera and I remember messing around with it, having no idea what I was doing, and got some pretty good shots - looking back now, I probably had it on auto or something!
My wife and I bought a Canon Rebel film - only used the auto setting, sort of took a photography class - didn't really teach us anything we didn't already know. Then the digital age hit - we sold the film camera and opted for the Canon Rebel XTi - do we know how to use all the cool settings on it? Not really.
So, I'm hoping to change that. I love taking pictures actually. I see the shots in my head and try to transfer to film, but never can quite "get them" I guess you could say. I've inherited two cameras from my wife's grandfather that I'm having fun figuring out as well and that's kind of sparked my interest back into photography. I don't mean this as any offense to any who is doing this at all - I don't want to take pictures for anyone, or do weddings, or anything like that - I don't want to start my own business with it. In the last month or two in my community alone, I 've see 2 or 3 new fan pages pop up on facebook for people that are doing this - all because they can use the auto setting on their big camera and use picnik! I just want the pictures to be for me!
Okay, so my intro turned into more of a rant than an introduction! Ha! Hope to get to know a lot of you here and get some great tips!
And for the record....I do know what the "big camera" actually is! Ha!
